Lacey Food Bank Program

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life,
that no man can sincerely try to help another,
without helping himself "
 -  Ralph Waldo Emerson

OUR THANKS TO YOU...

As we end another year of food bank service, the list of those who helped us in 2008 is a testament to an all encompassing community of caring and support. In 2008 we saw our client lists increase by 25% and  we reached an all time high by Christmas, 192 families. Without you we would be unable to continue helping them. And thanks to you, the food bank kids each received gifts.

Take a minute to visit the "Newletter 2008 " page and meet those who joined in this wonderful community effort. From the scouts and the students, to the organizations, churches and businesses and to all the caring individuals in Lacey - you were there for us. Keep it going - throughout 2009. We need you.

On another page "Esteemed Sponsors" you'll meet individuals who commit to monthly donations and businesses who back us up by supporting at least one food bank family at the cost of $240. annually.

Whatever it is you give or whatever you do, you breathe life into this organization and for this, the volunteers of the Lacey Food Bank thank you.

Sincerely,
Guy Burnett, Chairman

FOOD & FOOD DRIVES

The Women Club of Lacey  holds a collection monthly, of tuna fish for us.  Last year they collected almost  1,000 cans of tuna. As of the December   meeting they have given us a grand total of 746 cans of tuna for the year

The ongoing collections by our friends from the Forked River Presbyterian Church and the Village Lutheran Church enrich our shelves

Thanks to Craig at Manhattan Bagel who gives us huge bags of bagels for monthly distribution, a treat for all.

Ray from Biaggio's Harbor Cafe supplies us with cases of spaghetti each month. This is our most basic offering and much needed. Thanks Ray, we'll tell everybody about your great pizza  ! (Pss, everybody, Ray makes deeeeelicious pizza. )

Caldwell Bankers collect food for us at their headquarters on an ongoing basis. They are located out by the GSP, on the south side of Lacey Rd

Our friends at Hair Concepts also have an ongoing collection of food for us, with their generous clientele filling the box to the top.

Penny Shank's Brownie Troop #477 made, " with love", Easter candy bags for the clients . Thank you Cassie, Erica, April, Angela, Adrienne, Daria, Kayla, Sierra, Samantha, Charlotte and Carley.

The Lacey Library held a food drive twice this year.

Thanks to our favorite neighborhood , the Forked River Breakfast Group, who collect food for us at all their social occasions. We can only wish that this "germ of a good idea" would spread through out the land of Lacey.

Thanks to Jeff from Old Time Auto for donating 400 hamburgers the group had left over from their annual picnic.

Janice Celmer collects coupons from her neighbors, then uses them to buy food for us, a trunkload at a time.

Tom Kelly, owner of Medicine to Go donated 10 cartons of Depends for the food bank clients.

GIFTS OF A " DIFFERENT COLOR "

~
The Food Bank babies have a good friend in Thierry Smith, from Bayville. Over the last few months, Thierry has donated dozens of boxes and bags of diapers. There are never enough diapers for a baby - as we all know. And so did Thierry !
~
Rich & Margaret Hauswirth , owners of Hauswirth  Insurance Agency,  are official members of the FOFB (Friends of the Food Bank) along with  being esteemed sponsors for the last six years. When the food bank needs a boost, they always come through - with one stipulation, that we do not mention their name. So we don't ......    but now we are ....   : )

Last year, along with two other charities, we received over $1,000 from their  referral program. Do yourself (and us) a favor and call them for an estimate on your insurance needs. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the rates and the small town personal attention you'll receive. To receive their witty informative newsletter give them a call at  693-3123 and tell them you were referred by the Lacey Food Bank. Then tell your family and friends to do the same

Home Depot Corporation granted the Food Bank with $1,000. This money will be used for community outreach, providing materials for youth tours of the food bank, as well as informative ads in the Forked River Gazette. Thanks to Manager Mark Saltarelli for his help in initiating this grant.

Amergen has donated $3,000 to pay for insuring and registering the Food Bank Van. And bless good ole Jack Ryan from the Recreation Department who keeps it together for us !

~
We have a good friend at the Forked River Gazette. Thanks to Jennifer, the word has been spread about our Memorial & Celebrations page . Thanks Jennifer for that and for publishing our schedule each month.

And finally,

We are so grateful for all the helping hands from Lacey Township - the office support from township adminstrator Veronica Laureigh's staff - Fran & Pat  -  Casey Parker & his  monthly food moving crew sent to us (sheer salvation) - Bud, Jack & Fred,  the great guys in John Kilmurry’s recreation department who provide transportation and delivery to the housebound  - &  Veronica’s staff in the township clerk's office who pave our way.  And finally, the support we receive from the township committee.......We couldn't do it without them
