The Lacey Food Bank Program

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life,
that no man can sincerely try to help another,
without helping himself "
 -  Ralph Waldo Emerson

OUR THANKS TO YOU...

As we ended another year of food bank service, the list of those who helped us in 2007 is a testament to an all encompassing community of caring and support. Without you we would be unable to continue helping the less fortunate among us.

Take a minute to visit the Newsletter 2007 page to  meet those who joined in this wonderful community effort. From the scouts and the students, to the organizations, churches and businesses and to all the caring individuals in Lacey - you were there for us.

On another page "Esteemed Sponsors" you'll meet individuals who commit to monthly donations and businesses who back us up by supporting at least one food bank family at the cost of $240. annually.

Whatever it is you give or whatever you do, you breathe life into this organization and for this, the volunteers of the Lacey Food Bank thank you.

Sincerely,

Guy Burnett, Chairman

GIFTS OF A DIFFERENT COLOR

Along with miscellaneous items, the Woman's Club of Lacey collects tuna fish, a much needed protein source, at each meeting. As of the November meeting, they've  collected 914 cans  in '08  (But who's counting?)

Thanks to the  Italian American Club for holding a monthly food collection at each meeting.

The Old Guard has stepped up to the plate and is collecting soup at each meeting. Thanks guys.

THE HUNGER ACTION TEAM , Forked River  Presbyterian Church, buys and packages bags of fresh produce each month for distribution.

The Village Lutheran Church filled the alter with tuna fish - part of a targeted food drive they will be holding.

Robert Porcellini of Lanoka Farms donated a pumpkin for each family as part of our October distribution, the fourth year he's done this for us.

And to  Mayor Danny Most, for donating  his fees for performing marriages to the Food Bank.

To Jennifer from the Forked River Gazette who blesses us with the space to send out our schedule and message. She's a chip off the old good citizen block that was dear Valerie.

The Lacey Woman's Club Evening Membership gifted an elderly client whose oven failed, with a convection oven so she could continue to bake her corn muffin mixes and chicken. ....They then provided a carton of very expensive baby formula for a young client who runs short of her WIC allotment monthly. They are truly FOFB

Patrick Allen, a retired electrician, installed the oven neatly by building it into the existing wall.

The women of CURVES donate school supplies in August and toys in December for the food bank kids.

Help for our aging van came from Jack Ryan's brother who donated tires, and from Ed Monari's auto service for installing them gratis.  Ed's also serviced the van gratis. Thanks  pals ! And more thanks to Jack Ryan for helping us keep the van afloat.

Laura Eugenio's  Troop 215 held a leaf cleanup day for the elderly and handicapped clients at the end of March.Along with this they prepared 125 gift bags of candy & cookies for each client at the Easter distribution. (along with gift cards to ShopRite) Now those are very good deeds indeed.

Ray from BIAGIO'S CAFE sends over cases of spaghetti each month

Every month the clients enjoy bagels courtesy of MANHATTAN BAGELS

To Clark Paradise, Your Grandmother's Cupboard, who sets up a traveling "store" each month, for the client's clothing and household items needs.

The Ocean First Foundation gave us a grant to buy a storage trailer.

Each year we choose a select few people to receive our designation of FOFB or Friends of the Bank Bank. The deeds they do very, but one common chord exists among all of them. And that is a consistant support of our work.
